#13 Amherst Dominates #17 Bowdoin, 9-0, to Advance to NESCAC Championship Semifinals

HARTFORD, CT — The #13 Amherst College women's squash team delivered a commanding performance in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, sweeping the #17 Bowdoin College Polar Bears with a score of 9-0 at the George A. Kellner Squash Courts on Saturday morning. The Mammoths controlled the match from start to finish, winning all nine matches, with eight coming in straight sets.

Up Next: With this victory, Amherst improves to 13-4 overall, and a 9-1 NESCAC record. The Mammoths now advance to the NESCAC Semifinals, where they will face the #11 Tufts University Jumbos tomorrow morning at 9am. Tufts booked their spot in the semis after a 9-0 win over the #18 Bates College Bobcats today. Should Amherst win, they will also compete in the NESCAC Championship final later in the afternoon.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Senior Tanmai Pathak set the tone at the top of the lineup, earning a straight-set victory while dropping just 17 total points in her match.
  • Sophomore Quincy Cline, junior Alex Brown, and first-year Brigid Brandon followed with dominant straight-set wins. Brown performed excellently in the second set to edge it with a score of 15-13 at the #3 spot.
  • Kristen Daniel overcame a tough start at the #5 spot, rallying from a 6-11 first-set loss to take the next three sets, including a 15-13 second set.
