Mammoths finish 12th at NCAA Div. III Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- A four-stroke improvement allowed the Amherst College women's golf team to shoot a final round 306 at the 2025 Div. III NCAA Championship Friday, allowing the Mammoths to finish 12th in the country.

As she has done for much of the tournament, first-year Mekhala Costello led the way for the Mammoths, shooting a 2-over 74 at the Kingsmill Resort's River Course. Costello finished 17th overall out of 176 golfers who took part in the championship tournament, shooting a 9-over 297 over the course of the four-day event. 

Amherst shot a collective 18-over 306 on Friday's 4th and final round. Abigail Kim was right behind Costello with a 4-over 76 in which she birdied the 4th hole. Jia An birdied the 17th hole en route to a 6-over 78. Annie Dai was in lock step with An, also shooting a 6-over 78 that included birdies on the 1st and 14th holes. Joelle Kim finished her tournament with an 8-over 80 that included birdies on the 7th and 17th holes. 

Costello concluded her tournament with birdies on two of her final three holes Friday, the 16th and 18th. She an earlier birdie on the 5th hole. 

For the four rounds, An placed 67th with a 16-over 314, Abigail Kim was 104th with a 22-over 310, Dai was 114th with a 25-over 313 and Joelle Kim was 123rd with a 27-over 315. 

Emory University won the team championship by 13 strokes over Carnegie Mellon University. Emory's Carys Code won the individual title with a 3-under 285 for the tournament.
