Tigers Too Much for #13 Mammoths, 9-0

AMHERST, MA— On Monday, the #13 Amherst College women's squash team went against the #4 team in the nation, Princeton University. The Mammoths hosted the Tigers at home, on the Davenport Squash Courts, but fell short against the tough opponent. Princeton won all official ladder matches without dropping a set. The Princeton University Tigers have only lost one match in the 2025-2026 season, against #3 Stanford University. With today's victory over Amherst, Princeton's record improves to 4-1. 

After an impressive 5-match win streak to kick off the season, the Mammoths have to accept defeat for the first time this season, making their record 5-1. 

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Although the Mammoths did not win any matches in official matches (singles 1-9), sophomore Ella Miller was victorious in the #10 singles exhibition match. She bested Princeton's Abigail Schuster with the score of 3-1 (11-8, 11-8, 10-12, 13-11)

  • Amherst's next match is against Tufts University, a NESCAC rival.

UP NEXT:

* After the first loss of the season on Monday, The Mammoths are looking to bounce back on Tuesday, January 13th in their third NESCAC match, and the second away match of the season against Tufts University. The Jumbos are currently the highest ranked NESCAC team in the nation at #11, so the match will be a great opportunity for the #13 Amherst. The match will take place in the Tufts Squash Center, at 2:00 PM. Amherst now has a 5-1 overall record (2-0 in the NESCAC). Tufts University holds a 5-2 record (4-1 in NESCAC).
