#14 Mammoths men fall to Colby, 6-3

WATERVILLE, ME – The #14 Amherst College men's squash team dropped a tough match to #20 Colby on Wednesday night, falling 3-6. Colby's wins came from the spots 2-7, only dropping two sets in those five matches. The Mules found their momentum on positions 2–7, securing straight- or four-game wins to clinch the team result before the final matches concluded.The Mammoths were especially successful at #1 and #9 where they gained straight-set victories. Amherst is now 6-3 overall, and 3-2 in the NESCAC. The Mammoths will look to bounce quickly ahead of Thursday's NESCAC matchup against Bowdoin.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Roman Parisi delivered a statement win at #1 singles, sweeping Seif Ashraf in three sets, 3–0 (11–7, 11–7, 11–9). The match lasted for 41 minutes. 

  • At #9, Aiden Shap delivered one of Amherst's win's, earning a fast 3–0 victory over Oliver Riordan (11–2, 11–8, 11–6) in just 19 minutes to secure the quickest win of the night.

  • At #8, Grady Herbert produced a gritty five-game comeback win over Avery Rosenberg, coming back from being 1–2 down to take the match 3–2 (5–11, 11–5, 3–11, 11–5, 11–6) in 43 minutes.

    Amherst wraps up its Maine trip on Thursday in Brunswick, where the Mammoths will face Bowdoin College before returning home for the next NESCAC match against Williams College on  January 28th. The match against #18 Bowdoin will take place at 5:00 PM, on January 22nd.
